Handgun Training Drills
1 – Reload – 1 Drill (10 rounds) – Beginner
No program required – static target drill
- Use the target of your choice
- Load one round in a magazine and load your gun.
- Have a second magazine loaded with one round in a magazine holder or your pocket.
- Send the target out to the distances of your choice. *Select a distance where you regularly get quality shots when practicing normally Fire one shot to slide lock, reload with the new magazine, rack the slide and reengage the target for 1 shot. Repeat 5 times.
*This drill can be done one handed both strong side and support side as well.
Failure to Stop Drill – Intermediate, Accuracy

Use a silhouette target with clear chest and eye boxes indicated (i.e. the VTAC target)
- Target goes out to 3 yards and turns for 3 seconds – take two shots to the chest and one to the head
- Target goes out to 5 yards and turns for 3 yards – take two shots to the chest and one to the head
- Target goes out to 7 yards and turns for 5 seconds – take two shots to the chest and one to the head
- Target goes out to 10 yards and turns for 5 seconds – take two shots to the chest and one to the head
